Its dual-diaphragm design provides three selectable polar patterns, making one microphone useful for focused solo recording, natural room pickup, stereo techniques, and front-and-back capture.

The Orpheus pairs a low-noise condenser circuit with a wide 20 Hz–20 kHz response and a three-position level control. Select a −10 dB pad for louder sources, the 0 dB position for standard recording, or a +10 dB boost when additional output is useful.
